Sacramento marks 50 years since Black Panther Party stormed State Capitol

Founder of Black Lives Matter Sacramento chapter Tanya Faison was among those who attended the rally. Fifty years after the Black Panther Party “came into the Capitol and they came in with their guns to shut it down” in a bid to stop legislators from making laws banning people from carrying guns in public spaces, she said feels like “we’ve taken the torch and carried on and escalated the fight according to what the times are bringing us.”
