One week before the local elections, Investigations Editor Daniel Hewitt returns to a community in North Shields living well beyond the bread line.

In 2022 he spent weeks filming with residents who were feeling the very real effects of poverty in a cost of living crisis – from choosing not to make toast to keep the power bill down, to a freezing home with no heating and a newborn baby.

He revisits those he met back then and sees how they are feeling about how they have fared since under a Labour government.
