Today, the area is mostly known for beggars, pushers and trashy bars. Placed in the shadows of the controversial Galleri Oslo it faces west with evening sun and floating water.

The areas are called Grønland and Vaterland and local architects MAD Arkitekter got inspired when they were working on a new project for Galleri Oslo.

They have designed a marquee with shops and cafés and are inspired by similar ‘under the bridge’ projects in Berlin in London, where every square meter is used.

Local developer Infill and the City of Oslo support the vision.
