Frank Pleyer (July 28, 1929 – January 3, 2006) was a Czech composer and arranger. He also used his pseudonym for certain works: Joe Fender.

Pleyer received music lessons at the music school in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. In 1948, he moved to Munich, where he in American Army Clubs made music for food, cigarettes and made little money. Since 1949, he worked as a composer and arranger for broadcasters such as Radio Munich, the West Deutscher Rundfunk (WDR) and others. He wrote soft music especially for the dance orchestras of the broadcasters. But he soon got the opportunity to make his own productions with the “Frank Pleyer Combo” and later the “Frank Pleyer Big Band”.

Later he was as a composer and arranger for the “Münchener Bier Garten Musicians”, the “Schönbrunnerstraße Blas Musik” and the “Original Egeländer Musicians” employed by Ernst Mosch.

This rare German ‘Hammond Funk’ LP by Orchester Frank Pleyer is from 1969 and released on the tiny Hippo label.

The track “Sunday love affair” was featured on the In-Kraut compilation vol.2.
