History:
“SO36 was originally focused largely on punk music and in the 1970s was often frequented by musicians such as Iggy Pop and David Bowie. After problems Martin Kippenberger took over the management in 1979 and tried to create a crossover between punk, new wave and visual art. In those days the club rivalled New York’s CBGB as one of the finest new-wave venues in the world, however unlike CBGB the venue still stands today and remains a fixture on the Berlin music scene championing new artists, while staying true to its punk past.”

For the celebration I created a poster in a small edition, it can be purchase at an affordable Kreuzberg community price in the collaborating Galerie Knoth und Krüger next door to SO36 (Oranienstrasse 188).

The poster is in A2 seize and created as a record cover with print on both sides,
so it can be flipped, and you can choose which side you wish to look at.

The poster is a celebration of SO36, but also a celebration of counterculture and posters in it self.

I took every possibility I got to create a poster.

And also in the spirit of Martin Kippenberger, who in his life time was involved in the creation of approximately 178 posters.
