On 16 December 1965, Manitas de Plata gave a concert in honor of Human Rights.
This concert took place at the United Nations in New York.
It was on this occasion also the Secretary General of the United Nations to open a permanent gypsy world, which still exists today in honor of Manitas de Plata.
The Secretary General of the UN, Mr. U Thant, then placed at the disposal of Manitas de Plata office staff for the preparations.
The musician was accompanied by his cousin, Jose Reyes, flamenco singer from South of France, the Camargue.
They both went sugbjuguer their audience through their arts, Jose Reyes by his singing, Manitas de Plata by his guitar signed by Picasso.
Manitas de Plata was cheered by the audience.
Present, Salvador Dali and his wife Gala, meets during the travel on the steamer France, Sidney Poitier, an American actor and various African tribes and high international personalities.
At this oaccasion, Manitas de Plata offered later a unique spectacle to Salvador Dali, who painted a rider on his horse during a second private concert.
