Slim Borgudd is the missing link between ABBA and Formula One

Slim Borgudd, a Swedish musician and racing driver, competed in Formula One during the early 1980s. With a background in touring car and Formula 3 racing, he debuted in F1 with the ATS team in 1981, showcasing the ABBA logo on his car due to his close ties with the band. In 1982, he switched to Tyrrell and earned points at the Swiss Grand Prix. Though his F1 tenure was short, Borgudd’s blend of motorsport and music set him apart.

Before F1, he was a session drummer, performing with ABBA in their early years. His distinctive dual career as a professional racer and musician makes him a unique figure in Formula One history.
