Record collecting goes beyond listening. Collecting becomes part of how you see yourself — whether you’re a modern pop obsessive or a bluegrass archivist. Dropping the needle stops being a moment and turns into a habit.
My Discography, launching in February, explores that. My Discography profiles vinyl collectors across the United States and the emotional connections they have to their records — from a legacy owner at a family-owned Chicago record store to an amateur radio DJ in Kentucky obsessed with Northern Soul 45s. These are people who build their lives around records: lining walls with shelves, memorizing liner notes, and planning weekends around record shopping.
