MITCHUM.. he didn’t mind being an actor, but despised being a Movie Star. He called himself a “poet with an axe”. He was an unlikely person for an actor. He was a serious hell-raiser with a major drinking problem, but it never interfered with his work. He had the Jekyll & Hyde, the two sides in him fighting. He was his own man, he didn’t care. He was ‘cool’ before cool was a term. – Harry Dead Stanton.
